Q: If you could have a fantasy pet, what would you have and why?
A: A Glass Cat, like Bungle in L. Frank Baum’s Oz books. I like cats, and I think it would be fun to have a glass one.
Q: What type of music best describes your writing style?
A: Classic Rock.
Q: Tell us about your writing office/space and why it’s special to you.
A: It’s a separate room in our house. My wife, also a writer, and I have our computers there. It overlooks our back garden, where I can see birds including the occasional hawk.
Q: If you didn’t write full-time what would your day job be?
A: I’d enjoy being a full-time illustrator. As it is, I’m only part-time.
Q: What is your writing schedule and how many projects do you juggle at once?
A: I am a morning writer. I write until 11 or 12, then break for lunch. In the afternoon I will work on illustration jobs, if I have any. I generally juggle two projects, very occasionally three.
Q: How do you balance your outside life with your writing life?
A: They are practically the same. Now that I’m retired, it’s easier to find time to write. When I was working, I would get up around 5 AM and write for an hour before getting ready for work.
Q: Write your eulogy in three sentences.
A: A.L. Sirois was a writer, artist, musician, husband, and father. He did the best with what he had and always strived to do his best. Friends can honor him by playing some Beatles albums, or some Thelonius Monk.
Q: What project are you most proud of right now?
A: I’m quite happy with my YA trilogy set in ancient Egypt, The Imhotep Chronicles. Volume 1, Murder in Mennefer, was published in 2024, and Volume II, Imhotep and the Quest to Kush, came out in 2025. The third book, The King’s Ghost, will be published in July of 2026.
Q: Do you have any new projects you would like to tell your fans about?
A: I’m working on a series of cozy mysteries. One has been published: This Gig is Murder, in Black Cat Mystery Weekly. Four others are planned; the second one, Paul is Dead, is written, and then I’m about to start on the third one, Newport Blues.
Q: Where can people find you on social media?

Bio: I am a writer, ghostwriter, developmental editor; graphic artist. I sold my first story in 1973. I’ve had fiction in Isaac Asimov’s Science Fiction Magazine, Fantastic, Amazing Stories, and online at Electric Spec, Mystery Weekly, Every Day Fiction and Flash Fiction Online, et al. My first book was, oddly enough, a children’s book, DINOSAUR DRESS UP published by William Morrow in 1992. Since then, I have published several other books, mostly novels, mostly science fiction, fantasy, and horror, with the occasional work of mainstream fiction. My story “In the Conservatory” was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. I have also ghostwritten more than a dozen works of science fiction and fantasy, as well as memoirs and cozy mysteries. In June 2024, Regal House Press published MURDER IN MENNEFER, the first volume of my YA trilogy set in ancient Egypt. The second volume, IMHOTEP AND THE QUEST FOR KUSH, was published in June of 2025. The third volume, THE KING’S GHOST, is due out in June of 2026.

"I did the best I could with what I had." That's really all anyone can ask of themselves.
